Recovery House

SEK Recovery House model is a family-like living environment free from alcohol and drug use. It is centered on peer support and community connection for sustained abstinence and recovery-oriented support from substance use disorder. The SEK Recovery House operates as a peer-led social recovery model, serving males affected by and seeking recovery from substance misuse. Oversight of the SEK Recovery House is a collaborative effort involving the House Program Director, Thrive Allen County staff, and members of the SEK Recovery Resources Coalition. The SEK Recovery House adheres to the best practice standards established by the National Alliance for Recovery Residences (NARR) and is actively pursuing certification as a recognized housing program.

Eligibility

Eligible residents are accepted based on a completed application, reviewed in the order received.  Applicants must have completed an inpatient treatment program for substance misuse within the past six to nine months. Alternatively, residents may qualify if they are currently enrolled in outpatient (IOP/OP) therapy services for substance use disorder (SUD) or have completed such services within thirty days of making application. Additional eligibility criteria considered includes involvement with Recovery Court, the need for safe housing, a commitment to seeking evidence-based recovery support services, a willingness to gain employment, and a goal to transition into permanent housing within the SEK Recovery Resources Coalition service area.

The SEK Recovery House does NOT offer any treatment services and may not be a good fit for an individual with significant mental health challenges. Applicants are NOT eligible if they have a history of sex offenses or are listed on the sex offender registry.

Community

At SEK Recovery Housing, we welcome and encourage community support and involvement. The main level of the house is designed as a SOCIAL space, where we host recovery meetings and provide a safe environment for friends to gather for game nights and community events. We invite volunteers from the community who have valuable life skills to share, such as managing house budgets, completing employment applications, grocery shopping, and more.

While on the property, we ask all visitors to respect the sober and clean lifestyle we maintain and refrain from bringing alcohol or drugs onto the premises. Our goal is for this space to become a safe environment for the community to develop new life skills, learn, socialize, and foster community engagement.

If you are interested in donating, volunteering, or reserving the community room for a gathering, please complete the Contact Us form, and someone will respond as soon as possible.
